Pianist Hyunjeong Lee

Biography

Concert Pianist/Collaborative Pianist / Piano teacher / Organist

Hyunjeong Lee is an internationally active pianist, educator, and collaborative artist who has built her career across South Korea, Japan, and the United States. She recently completed her Master of Music in Piano Performance at East Texas A&M University (Commerce), graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. During her graduate studies, she worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (2023–2025), teaching group piano classes, coaching students at the university’s piano academy, and accompanying vocal studios. These experiences not only enriched her teaching philosophy but also deepened her artistry as a performer.

Her talent as a performer has been recognized through numerous awards. Most recently, she was named the winner of the 2024 Concerto Competition (Piano Division) at East Texas A&M University, performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in the Honors Recital. Earlier in her career, she won top prizes in national competitions including the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Competition (2014), the Korea Piano Society Competition (2005), and several Grand Prizes at national youth competitions hosted by the Korea Music Association, KBS, and other institutions.

Lee’s performing career includes concerto appearances with orchestra—among them Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1—as well as solo recitals and chamber music collaborations. She has been featured as a soloist in the Excellent New Artist Concerts in both 2005 and 2016 and the Best New Artist Concert in 2015. Her artistry has further been shaped by participation in international masterclasses, studying with pianists such as Cinzia Bartoli, Prof. Arkadi Zenziper (Hochschule für Musik Dresden), Prof. Han Kaya (Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe), and Prof. Park (École Normale de Musique de Paris).

In addition to her solo career, Lee has extensive experience as a collaborative pianist. She served as accompanist for the Jeju Women’s Choir (2002–2010), performing in Korea, China, and Japan, and worked as an official accompanist for Cheju National University and various vocal studios. Her background also includes service as an organ accompanist at Seomun Catholic Church, further expanding her versatility as a musician.

As an educator, Lee is equally passionate. She taught for many years at Music Art Piano Academy in Seoul and later founded Lee’s International Piano Studio in Okinawa, Japan, where she guided students of all ages in solo and collaborative repertoire, competition preparation, and performance opportunities. Currently based in Greenville, Texas, she continues to teach at her private studio, helping students develop both technical skills and a lifelong love for music.

Hyunjeong Lee’s musical journey reflects both artistic excellence and a deep commitment to education. With her blend of international experience, competition achievements, and a philosophy rooted in inspiring each student’s unique potential, she continues to share the transformative joy of music with students and audiences alike.
